The Friends of the County Parks, established in 1988, is a group of concerned citizens joining together to promote financial and community support to the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation, and Conservation Department. They develop public awareness of recreation as an important part of day-to-day life.
Funds provided by The Friends of the County Parks are used as a supplement to the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department budget and does not replace allocated tax dollars. These additional funds helps maintain, improve, and enhance services provided by the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department. The Friends of the County Parks enjoys a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit exemption status.

Here are the most common kinds of bequests with sample language for naming Friends

beneficiaries at any time, should your circumstances change.
Residual Bequest
This is a very popular choice for charitable bequests because it ensures that loved ones
receive their distribution before any distribution to charity.
"I devise the residue of my estate, after the satisfaction of all specific bequests and the
payment of all taxes and other costs attending my death, to Friends of the County Parks

General/Fixed Dollar Bequest
A stated sum of money, usually cash, to a beneficiary.

Contingent Bequest
Assumes you want to leave your entire estate to family and friends. However, in the
event that you outlive any of your beneficiaries, it provides an opportunity to designate
Friends of the County Parks & Recreation to receive that portion of the estate.
"In the event that (name of the beneficiary) does not survive me, I designate Friends of
the County Parks & Recreation, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation, Tax ID# 59-3088915,
with principal offices currently located at P.O. Box 271911, Tampa, Florida 33688 as the
devisee of this bequest of (see above for language specific to different types of
bequests.)"
Designating the purpose of a bequest:
Unrestricted: The most useful type of bequest is unrestricted, allowing the funds to be
allocated by the Board of Directors of the Friends of the County Parks & Recreation
wherever they believe need is greatest.
Restricted: You may designate your bequest to support a special program or purpose
that reflects your personal or professional interest. Designations can include Recreation
(which includes children's programs and Parks), or Conservation (which goes to
Regional Parks environmental programs and ELAPP), or Disability Programs (such as
horses for the handicapped and Paralympic Sports), or other specific programs that the
Friends group supports.
