Pastors and members of their
congregations, high school
students and staff members and
formerly unhoused members of
society now living productive lives
will participate in the inaugural
Community Basketball
Tournament to raise funds for
Holliday's Helping Hands.
The tournament also marks the start of the Holliday's
Helping Hands Foundation Scholarship application
process in which high school students interested in
pursuing higher education via a trade school, two-
year college or four-year university may pick up their
applications.
Among the evening's
festivities are live music,
celeb appearances, food
and cash prizes.
"What better way to call attention to
the needs of LA's homeless
community than by drawing
together members from all sectors
of our community to join together
for an evening of fun and
excitement," says Miss Katina
Holliday, founder and CEO of
Holliday's Helping Hands.
Miss Holliday established her
eponymous nonprofit in 2018 to help LA
County's general homeless population
as well as young mothers recently
released from incarceration.
Holliday's Helping Hands has
created a formula that has been
especially productive for clients
that involves them developing
"Roadmaps" for their futures.
These are detailed,
comprehensive plans that
help them hone their
lifestyle skills, plan home
budgets, prepare for job
interviews and become
good neighbors and
citizens.
The nonprofit also offers its Shine
Ambassador Program, which trains and
prepares them for jobs in various fields
including food service, landscape
maintenance, screen printing and customer
service.
HHH currently boasts a
workforce of 200 ranging
from social work to
maintenance.
