Vinyl vs. PVC vs. Resin: The Best Material
For Realistic, Soft & Detailed Anime
Figures
Statue Saga's latest guide on anime figures is made for
collectors of all experience levels.
The guide says that among the
materials used to manufacture
figurines, PVC (polyvinyl
chloride) is the most common.
PVC figurines are inexpensive
compared to other types, as the
material is cost-effective, easy to mold
into the desired shape, and can be
used for mass production.
If you prefer higher-quality statues, Statue Saga recommends resin-made
figurines, but notes that these are the most expensive.
Resin can be sculpted to include very fine detail, allowing it to portray
movement, texture, and expression that are impossible to achieve with PVC
or vinyl.
Compared to PVC and resin, vinyl figures provide you with a middle ground in terms of
both cost and quality, offering some premium features without the price point to match
them.
