2. Establish a Quorum
With four Board members present, a quorum was established.
3. Officer Reports
Jeff Tomes reported that the finances at Driftwood Sands are well funded. He is looking into
consolidating our savings.
There were no other officer reports.
4. Committee Reports
Landscaping Committee: Patti Godsted reported that the committee is looking into
the best mulch replacement.
Wayne Godsted reported that Ron Turner, working alongside Arnie, have replaced
exterior lighting with LED fixtures. Thank you to Ron for his service to DWS, in
cleaning hall fixtures and the savings this brings to our community with more
energy efficient lighting. Garage lighting is the next project. Thank you also to
Ron for his work with Arnie on the new beautiful fence along our north boundary.
Meet and Greet will be held March 14 at 6 p.m to toast Ron for his volunteer
help and service. Thank you to Barb Ulrich and Patti for hosting.
5. Unfinished Business
A. Painting bids are still being reviewed and will be addressed at the next
Board meeting on May 1.
B. The Board discussed dryer vent cleaning. HOA will pay The Lint Man company
his base price for outer cleaning of all vents as a fire and safety preventative
measure. For owners who would like to have this company come into their unit
to clean their vent at the dryer, that is each owner’s financial responsibility.
Marcel made the motion to approve, Jack seconded, and motion passed
unanimously.
C. New Door Bids.
After reviewing the cost of replacing the door on 508, Jeff recommended
tabling the replacement until receiving another bid.
D. Balcony inspections
Denise reported that all balconies, as limited common elements, will be
inspected by RPM and Arnie on a floor by floor basis with owners being
notified prior to entrance.
6. New Business
A. Jack requested that RPM make it possible for owners
to pay their rental fee of $100 online. After Board discussion, Jack will continue to
pursue a resolution. The Board reminds all owners who rent their units that the
proper paperwork, which is online, and the rental fee, need to be submitted
in advance for every rental year.
B. After elevator doors were replaced, Arnie noticed rust at the bottom of some of
these new stainless steel doors. The doors are still under warranty and the
company that installed them will resolve this issue.
7. Open Discussion
Jeff Tomes again reiterated the Board’s appreciation to Ron Turner for all his labors
to keep our property pristine and lovely.
The new bike rack is getting full use.
Jeff Tomes continues to be concerned about water/sewer rates in Pinellas County
and reminds owners to consider low flow toilets and shower heads as this problem
will only become more of a financial burden with proposed increased county rates in
the next years.
Marcel had Jack report on the parking permits. They are working well. Jack and
others on the Board continue to monitor the situation and the need for towing.
Lana Schlapkohl (204) asked if there was a way that owners who need an extra
parking space could contact and possibly rent an owner’s private parking space
if they were not using it. Anyone interested can contact Lana. Jack also said
he would look into those communications so that owners who have two cars would
keep the “permit only” spots open for renters/guests.
8. Meeting adjourned at 4:35 p.m. by Marcel Turner, seconded by Jack and passed unanimously.
