4 Online Graphic Design Resources for Non-Designers
If you’re a small business owner who handles your own marketing, you’ll likely need some
graphic design work done at some point. Luckily, new resources are coming out all the time that
help non-designers create professional looking results on a budget. Here are four online graphic
design resources for non-designers that can help you get started.
Canva
If you are looking for a full-scale design tool that you can use from your browser as well as from
your iPad, Canva is a go-to interface. The free platform is designed around template tweaking,
and comes standard with pre-sized templates that are customized to appear on various social
media networks. You get attractive shaping and sizing options for the graphics you include. You
can easily duplicate similar graphics from one of the included templates, and there are plenty of
free images to choose from.
Pixlr
One of the older and more familiar entries on any graphics list is Pixlr, which is based closely on
the Photoshop interface. You can use Pixlr through the desktop or mobile environment. Pixlr is
actually easier than Photoshop as well, which can be quite in-depth, while retaining its flexibility.
Anything that you need to do is available, from resizing to recoloring to asset importing and
layer masking. You get a full library of filters as well.
WordSwag
One might overlook WordSwag for images because of its moniker, but it is actually one of the
most effective graphics tools for your iPhone and iPad. You have the ability to search for public
domain images straight from WordSwag to use as you see fit. The user interface gives you
pre-designed templates of professional quality and variations ready to go at a single click. You
always get a full selection of quotes available in-app. If you want to add a watermark as your
logo, you can do that, and all of it is free!
PicMonkey
There is no mobile version of PicMonkey available at this time, but the tool is one of the best
browser-based tools available. The program does have paid tiers, but the free version has
plenty of options and design resources for you to use, including backgrounds, photo editing and
themes. You start off with free backgrounds that you can use as a template for your graphics.
The editing options for your photos help to create an entirely new look from stock. You get new
backgrounds and base images in every new season, and you can grab even more images from
Chrome with an extension. Finally, you can upload original fonts to use in your graphics if you
do not want to use the free fonts that come included with PicMonkey.
Try each of these tools out and see which work best for your needs. And don’t forget you can
use your new images in your edocr documents. Don’t have an account?
