you from being conned by a fly by night rogue trader who over charges and carries out shoddy workmanship.
For businesses to earn the right to display the Trading Standards Checked logo on their website or van etc. they need
to go through a full vetting process. This is done by the Trading Standards Department of the Council local to their
address. All areas of the business are looked at in detail e.g.
Public liability insurance check
Verification of registered trading address
Checks including Insolvency, Bankruptcy and County Court Judgements
Checks into company trading history.
The aim of the scheme is to protect people, especially the vulnerable, from criminal and rogue traders.
This means that whenever you see a business legitimately displaying the Trading Standards Checked logo, you can be
sure you are dealing with a reliable, safe trader who will provide an honest service that is compliant with all UK
legislation. You can also check that a trader is a member of the scheme or search for a trader who is in the scheme by
visiting the appropriate council website.
