The Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department provides programs, events and activities to Hillsborough County residents on a year-round basis.

The department operates more than 176 neighborhood parks and playgrounds countywide, 265 athletic fields, 40 recreation centers, 10 regional parks, more than 727 miles of trail, as well as 61,000 acres of preserved lands acquired through the Jan K. Platt Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program (ELAPP).

Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department offers boating, bicycling, campsites, canoeing, concerts, cultural happenings, festivals, hiking, horseback riding, meeting facilities, nature study, picnic shelters, swimming, nature programs, and more.  You are invited to the National Go Skateboarding Day @ Apollo Beach Skate
Park. This will be contest number two in the Hillsborough County Skate Park
Series. June 21, 2015 is on a Sunday and its Happy Father’s Day and First
Day Of The Summer. 12 noon will be sign up and the event will be starting at
1pm. This is a free event, all skaters must have a updated waiver on file and
wear helmets and pads for 12 and under. There will be four different age
groups and one over-all sponsored division. The age groups are 8 and un-
der, 9-12, 13-15 and 16 and up. There will be 1st 2nd and 3rd in each age
group. $30.00 gift certificate for 1st. $20.00 gift certificate for 2nd. $10.00 gift
certificate for 3rd and a $30.00 gift certificate for the over-all sponsored skat-
er. All certificates are from the skate shop Zumiez @ The Brandon Town
Center. All certificates were purchased and donated by Jim and Bev Hiller.
Also, Raleigh Barnes will MC with the Judging of Raheem Douglas, Ross
Caruso and Kyle Rogers.
