How can non-AANHPI people be AANHPI allies? Non-AANHPI people can be
allies by actively listening to the voices and concerns of AANHPI individuals,
educating themselves about AANHPI history and issues, challenging
stereotypes and biases, advocating for inclusive policies and practices, and
amplifying the voices of AANHPI communities in spaces where they may be
underrepresented. To learn more from Rinder, please click here.

What does AANHPI Heritage Month mean to you? To be honest, even as an
Asian, I hadn’t previously been aware of or celebrated AANHPI Heritage
Month before. I am glad to see that Accusoft is promoting awareness of our
cultural backgrounds. I think it’s an opportunity to celebrate the
achievements of the AANHPI group while also acknowledging the challenges
this group may face. By fostering greater understanding, we can work
towards dispelling misconceptions and building stronger connections. To

Can you share something special about your culture? There are many unique
things about Vietnam from the cuisine to the celebrations. But the most significant
festival is Tết, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year. It is a time when the country
prepares for the new year and everyone takes weeks off. On the night, we light
fireworks and everyone gathers to watch. When I went back to visit a couple years
ago, the streets were so filled that you literally couldn't move. Older relatives will
give red envelopes (lì xì) containing money to kids. Another highlight is the 'Múa
Lân' (Lion Dance), which is performed to bring prosperity and good fortune. It is a
very exciting time to celebrate with family and friends and it is definitely the best
time to visit Vietnam. To learn more from Rhea, please click here.

What does diversity in the workplace mean to you? Growing up as a Filipino man I want others to know
that my culture, way of life, and the way I was raised may differ from yours but I am still a human being
just like you. Diversity in a workplace means being able to feel represented and included as well as feel
accepted within a workplace environment. T o learn more from Julian, please click here

Contributing to something
larger than yourself can instill
a sense of purpose and
fulfillment.
Self-Awareness and Self-
Knowledge: Understanding
who we are is key to
understand what our purpose
is and what makes us happy.
Keep a gratitude journal to
regularly acknowledge and
appreciate the positive aspects
of your life, including personal
achievements, relationships,
and moments of joy.
Aligned in Growth
Set personal development goals that
align with your interests and aspirations.
Whether it's learning a new skill,
pursuing a hobby, or advancing in your
career, setting and achieving goals can
boost confidence and self-esteem.
Seek out opportunities for learning and
self-improvement, such as online
courses, workshops, or networking
events. Embrace challenges as
opportunities for growth rather than
obstacles to be avoided.
Surround yourself with supportive
individuals who encourage your personal
and professional growth. Seek
mentorship from colleagues or friends
who inspire you and offer guidance and
encouragement along the way.
True to Ourselves
Practice self-care by prioritizing
activities that nourish your mind, body,
and spirit. Make time for activities that
replenish your energy and promote
well-being.
Set boundaries to protect your mental
and emotional health. Learn to say no to
commitments that drain your energy or
compromise your values, and prioritize
activities that align with your authentic
self.
Practice self-compassion by treating
yourself with kindness and
understanding, especially during times
of stress or difficulty. Remember that
it's okay to not be perfect and that self-
care is an essential part of maintaining
overall health and well-being.
Resilient in Change
Cultivate adaptability
by embracing change
as a natural part of life.
Focus on what you can
control and take
proactive steps to
navigate transitions
with resilience and
grace.
Build a support network
of friends, family, and
colleagues who can
provide encouragement
and perspective during
times of change. Reach
out for help when
needed and lean on
others for support.

Philip Vera Cruz was born in Saoang, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, in 1904, and moved
to the US at the age of 22. Vera Cruz worked a variety of menial labor and farm
jobs, witnessing firsthand the deplorable treatment that farmworkers experienced.
Vera Cruz partnered with Mexican labor organizer Cesar Chavez to demand better
treatment, and together with the United Farm Workers union, was finally able to
impact change in working conditions for thousands of workers. He was a leader in
the Asian American movement, leading the charge to improve the terrible working
conditions for migrant workers, especially Filipino and Mexican farmworkers.
