One corpse appears by a lake with a bullet hole through the
back of his skull. Days later in a dumpster inside a huge
recycling station is one more dead man, this one by
strangulation. RID The Responsive Intelligence Department has
a suspicion - one they will never share with the Police until
they have enough facts.

AN EYE FOR AN EYE

Pilot Episode.
A corps by the side of a lake. Tons of police and forensics
at the scene.

1. EKSINGEDALEN VALLEY, DEAD MAN FLOATING
A riverbank is packed with forensics. It is 9:15 PM.
summertime in Norway. Forensics Virna Mateys (50-52) cards a
male corpse for evidence. A forensic photography team assists
Mateys. Our assistant chief Tom Meyers (54-56) arrives at the
scene, he gets protective gear on and walks down toward the
body. Meyers looks at the victim's face.
MEYERS, ASSISTANT CHIEF.
Shit! I doubt fish did that to his
face.
VIRNA MATEYS
Not unless we got ourselves a school
of piranhas down there. Heavy rifle
and the shooter is a good one. What
about you I thought you were leaving
the big cases for the next in line.
MEYERS, ASSISTANT CHIEF.
The big boss is not certain who's next
after I retire.
Onshore, not far from the body, there is a technical poling
skiff boat. Forensics search the boat. Police vans arrive
with their police dogs.

the crown of the skull exiting between
the nose and upper lip. In a downrange
trajectory. We're dealing with
impressive precision high angle
shooting.

what are the chances of guessing from
which hill our shooter made the shot?

The traces from the boat and blood, I
can only guess with a 4% possibility
southwest - up those hills.

VIRNA MATEYS
No. He is 1.92cm. I'm guessing a
little over 100 kilos. The impact of
dead weight left a trace of blood on
the aft of the boat.
MEYERS, ASSISTANT CHIEF.

His little girl. She was found alone
hidden in the boat. She had blood in
her hands. We follow the smudges to
the same corner the couple that found
her says she was hiding.

No bullet holes. It looks like they
were not after the little girl. The
bullet exited and shattered the point
of the bow. A strong firearm.
MEYERS, ASSISTANT CHIEF.
What interests me is the clean
entrance at the back of the skull and
the messy exit almost erasing his
face. We're looking at a rifle with a
defect.
VIRNA MATEYS
I say look for a military rifle.
Meyers stands straight and looks at the boat, the hills, the

The Queen's head?
MORTEN
It's original. It is set around 1776,
a copy of a colonial tavern from the
Revolutionary era. It was my idea and
Nick paid for it.
NICK
We built it and called it "The tipsy
Cow" but "The Queen's head" is more
authentic.
JENNY
Or "The Madam's Organ".

They are drunk. Jen hands Kayla a beer.
JENNY

Nick smiles and stares into Kayla's eyes.

Morten has finally passed out drunk on the floor. He holds
his beer mug close to his chest.
