Board of Directors Meeting
November 6, 2020
1. Call to Order
Denise Fischer of Resource Property Management called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m.
ONLINE. Proof of Notice for the meeting was posted in the elevators and online. Board mem-
bers in attendance: Marcel Turner, Jack Berlin, Rod Brenton, and Jill Rommel. Also in attend-
ance: Barb Ulrich (109), Dave and Sherry Starke, (303).
2. Establish a Quorum
With four Board members present, a quorum was established.
3. Minutes Approval
The corrected minutes from August 14, 2020 were approved, Marcel made a motion, Jack
seconded; all in favor.
4. Officer Reports
President Marcel Turner reported on the financials with Treasurer Jeff Tomes absent. Our
budget is in wonderful shape. Our reserve fund is excellent. The fire panel project will be done
in three stages. The meeting package with budget and financials are online and also mailed out
to owners in the next month.
No other officer reports.
5. Committee Reports
Marcel reported on the projects Arnold has been working on: painting storage and front doors.
Also, Arnold will be fixing the pool heater this week.
Jack reminded owners that the umbrellas at the pool are fixable so if anyone has a problem with
an umbrella, let Arnold know about it.
Rod brought up the issue of the Fire Department having access to all units. Marcel reported that
those keys are accessible and will communicate with the Fire Department about the key to open
the box containing those keys.
Owners are reminded also that if they notice cracks or holes in the concrete on their decks need
to be reported to Denise immediately.
6. Unfinished Business
A. Front door bid approval - After discussion, the Board approved the replacement of front
doors on 405, 505, and 508. Marcel moved to approve, Jack seconded, and all approved.
B. Fire/Safety - Denise reported that Daniel Dart of Dart Electronics has begun the first phase
of the new fire panel installation. It will be completed in 3 stages, while ensuring that the new
panel and system are aesthetically appropriate for our building. Dart has been in communication
with the Fire Marshall, who has approved the plans. Phase 2 will begin in 2021.
C. Balcony repairs - Denise reported that Francesco will be addressing spalding issues on the
decks of 407, 403, 305, 206, 503, 209, 109 and 504. Francesco will also paint and caulk these
eight balconies. Marcel moved to approve a bid of $4,000 for the project, Rod seconded, all in
favor.
7. New Business
A. Palm Tree Thinning: The palm trees on the property were thinned.
B. New Board members: Marcel announced that he is not seeking another term on the Board
of Directors after serving five years. On Monday Denise will be sending out applications for the
Board for 2021. The last Board meeting of 2020 will be December 4, and will be a budget meet-
ing in preparation for the Driftwood Sands Annual meeting on January 8, 2021.
8. Open Discussion
Rod brought up getting bids for more security cameras at Driftwood Sands. After discussion, the
Board directed Denise to get bids.
Rod also asked about railing maintenance; Denise said that will be addressed when the building
is painted. Jill asked about the timeline of painting the building, which is budgeted, for next
year. Barb recommended proper maintenance of our building which affects our property values.
The Board again thanks Dorian in 505 for reupholstering the cushion in the west lobby.
Jill thanked Marcel for his design of Arnold and Ron Turner’s “Turner and Hooch” shirts and
asked him to design a “Driftwood Sands” t-shirt for owners.
The Board sends prayers and wishes for healing for Rich Ulrich and Jeff Tomes.
9. Meeting adjourned at 4:24 p.m. by Marcel Turner, seconded by Jack and passed unanimously.
