Mounting Options:
Flush Ceiling Mounts
The LakeAir LAFC was designed to fit easily into a 2ʹ x 4ʹ ceiling grid. These units weigh about 100 pounds and
require only 11 inches of head room. Our New 2x2CM models flit into a 2ʹ x 2ʹ ceiling grid. Both of the units can
also be mounted flush to the ceiling in a dry wall or plaster ceiling. You will need create a frame in the ceiling
for non drop ceilings.
These models are equipped with 4 eyebolts for easy hanging. Their relatively light weight allow them to be
hung in most any structure. You should be able to hang them from the same supports that the drop ceiling is
hung from. you can find more information on the hanging procedures in the product manuals.
Direct to Ceiling Mounts
It is possible to mount our LAFC and 2x2CM directly to the ceiling. We make mounting brackets that will allow
you to fasten the commercial smoke removal machines directly ceiling rafters. The brackets are sturdy and use
a 24 inch center configuration common in many commercial buildings. The LAFC and 2x2CM models have
galvanized steel exteriors that you may want to paint or cover with the appropriate skirting kits available as a
separate option.
Ceiling Hung Mounts
Ceiling Hung Mounting is very popular for our LA2 line. These units are cubbish in design. They are very good at
moving large amounts of air or absorbing large volumes of odors and fumes. LA2 units , like our LAFC and
2x2CM units are equipped with (4) 1/4-20 welded nut inserts and include eyebolts for ceiling hanging.
Hanging allows for easy placement and relocation of your smoke air purifier. Sometimes it take a bit of
experimentation to come up with the best location of you units. Every establishments has its own unique set of
challenges for optimum smoke removal. The ability to hang from the ceiling often make this process easier to
achieve.
Wall Mounts
The LA2 line of Commercial Smoke Eaters can be mounted on any wall using our wall mount bracket. This is
sturdy bracket made from heavy duty steel tubing and angle iron. The brackets position the air purification so it
moves along the wall. We suggest you plug these units into switched outlets for easy on an off operation. All
LA2 units can be equipped with variable speed control. Move clean air along the perimeter of your business to
provide a great environment for employees and visitors.
Flush Wall Mounts

Smoke Eater Filter Options
LakeAir Smoke Eliminating products offer 4 types of filtration. Each filtration type has its positive and negative
attributes. The LA2 platform will allow you to combine these types of filtration and even add other options as
well.
• HEPA
• Electrostatic
• MERV 15 Smoke Guard
• Activated Carbon
HEPA Smoke Removal
HEPA filters are the most effective at removing smoke. LakeAir True HEPA filters remove 99.97% of particles. Along with the highest
efficiency, they have a highest cost of maintenance. It is more expensive to produce this high quality product, so it has a higher filter
replacement cost. No proven filter technology removes smoke and odor on its own. A HEPA filter must incorporate activated charcoal
filtration to be effective on the odor.
Why Choose HEPA Filters for Smoke Removal
PRO’S
CON’S
HEPA filters don’t have to be washed, they change out quickly HEPA filters replacement cost $175- $250 (1 or more times a year)
HEPA Filters captures 99.97% of all indoor pollutants
Discarded HEPA filters add toxic waste to landfills
HEPA Filters produce no Ozone
HEPA Filters Unit typically have lower CFM Capacity
How Air Filters Trap Smoke.
Filters work in an air purifier in 3 ways. These methods of trapping dirt particles are called mechanical methods. The first method is
impaction. When smoke tries to go through the tight weave of a filter it is trapped. The second method is interception: When a smoke
particles gets close enough to a filter fiber it is caught and trapped. The third mechanical method is diffusion.. In a filter, diffusion causes
the smaller particle to move out of the main air stream. The small particle matter moves slower. Then, it is trapped by the first two
methods.
Electrostatic Smoke Removal
The Electrostatic Precipitator (filter cell) is the most popular technology for smoke filtration. It is highly effective and has a low cost of
maintenance. All of our smoke air purifiers are available with electrostatic filtration. While this air filtration method is quite popular it
does have its own drawbacks.
Why Choose Electrostatic Smoke Removal
PRO’S
CON’S
Electrostatic filters are washable saving you money
Electrostatic filters produce 0.04 parts per million Ozone
Electrostatic filters are open and allow more air flow
Electrostatic filters need regular cleaning to be effective
Electrostatic filters reduce landfill use
Electrostatic filters sometimes make a “popping” noise
The Electrostatic Smoke Filtering Process
Electrostatic air purification is a 2 stage filtering system. In the first stage, the smoky air is drawn through the particle ionizer. Here the
smoke in the air is given a negative charge. The second stage is a series of collection plates. The charged smoke particles are attracted to
the plates and are trapped. The smoke remains on the filter plates until they are removed when the filter is washed.
