Emotional Intelligence Curriculum For
Teachers: A Trauma-Informed
Perspective
The rate of students in the U.S.
who are or have experienced at
least one traumatic event (ACE)
is staggering: at least two-thirds
of the students in every U.S.
classroom.
As educators, we want to be
as prepared as possible to
support students as they
process these experiences
and lead them to a more
hopeful, promising future.
Hope Rising has created a hope-
based EI curriculum, called "My
Best Me", which provides
educators with the tools they
need to create a supportive,
positive, and hopeful classroom.
ACEs can lead students to
have learning impairments,
difficulty regulating emotions
in class, or feel unsafe or
unable to trust their
teachers and classmates.
These issues often take away
from learning time, creating
class disruptions and an
increased need for disciplinary
actions, and creating an
unstable, less productive
classroom.
"My Best Me" builds trust, empathy, and respect, and
allows you to establish an open dialogue with students
about personal development.
The course teaches students about identity and relationships, the
importance of mental, emotional and physical health, the power of
achieving goals, and positive thinking.
