The Parks & Recreation Department operates numerous parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and recreation centers. The department also provides programs, events, and activities to Hillsborough County residents year-round.

WELCOME/CALL TO ORDER
a. This meeting was called to order at 12:06 p.m. by Anthony Sanchez

PUBLIC COMMENTS
None
III.
PRESENTATIONS
a. Sponsorship Update
i. Chris Kiddy shared that the Friends agreement has been updated and will be on the
agenda at the next BOCC Meeting. Interviews were conducted for the sponsorship
coordinator yesterday.
ii. Discussion ensued regarding the Friends agreement.
b. AED Update
i. James Crouch shared that the agreement with Ultra Medical went through and new
cabinets have been ordered. He is identifying sites that need multiple units for
multiple teams.
ii. Discussion ensued to determine when this project will reach completion.
c. ELAPP Acquisition Update
i. Forest Turbiville shared recent acquisitions.
d. State Road 56 Extension
i. There is no update at this time.
ii. Jack Berlin requested that if any information comes up, Alison Hughes share with
the Parks Board and Friends group ASAP.
e. USF RFI – Forest Preserve
i. Mr. Turbiville shared that USF has created a committee to evaluate the original RFI.
ii. Discussion ensued regarding timeline, division of property, and next steps.

f. Park Vendors and Friends Agreement Update
i. Adrienne Rouse shared that food trucks have been utilized at a few sites.
ii. Discussion ensued regarding current procedures and policies.
iii. ACTION ITEM- Remove from next agenda
g. Naming of Lettuce Lake Park
i. Joe Guidry, Jr. suggested naming the nature center or some other facility after a
dedicated citizen who has been involved in Lettuce Lake Park and similar projects.
ii. Discussion ensued regarding an appropriate facility to name after him and next
steps.
iii. Mr. Turbiville will look at the naming policy and bring information to the next
meeting.
iv. Mr. Berlin inquired about a new volunteer coordinator to replace Chris Kiddy.
h. 2021 ELAPP Annual Report
i. Mr. Turbiville shared highlights from the ELAPP Annual Report, including
acquisitions, controlled burns, and habitat restoration.
ii. Discussion ensued regarding bond funds, support, and next steps.
Motion: Joe Guidry, Jr. made a motion approving the 2021 ELAPP Annual Report and the
motion was seconded by Jack Berlin. The motion was passed with no opposing
members.
i. Board Positions
i. Anthony Sanchez has continued to reach out.
ii. Mr. Sanchez will contact all the Commissioners about extending Board terms to
avoid all current member terms expiring on the same day.
j. December 16 Meeting
Motion: Jack Berlin made a motion to cancel the December 16 meeting and the motion
was seconded by Nathan Gennara. The motion was passed with no opposing members.
k. 2022 Proposed Meeting Dates
i. Discussion ensued to switch the proposed September 22 meeting with September
29.
Motion: Joe Guidry, Jr. made a motion approving the dates and the motion was
seconded by Barbara Heineken. The motion was passed with no opposing members.

BOARD ACTION
a. Approve minutes from the October 7, 2021 meeting
Motion: Jack Berlin made a motion approving the October 7, 2021 meeting minutes and
the motion was seconded by Joe Guidry, Jr. The motion was passed with no opposing
members.

BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS
a. Mr. Berlin invited the staff to the Friends Holiday Social.
VI.
COMMUNICATIONS, ACTIVITIES, OR STAFF MEMBER COMMENTS
a. Alison Hughes shared information about the staff holiday social and recent awards.
b. Adrienne Rouse shared an updated about the first wheelchair football team.
c. Jason Mackenzie shared recent CIP updates.
d. Billy Graham shared that Lettuce Lake Park was awarded funding to build an adaptive
playground.

a. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:06 p.m.
