Nordic region (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark) and
Denmark

Company location is generally based on today's HQ. For high profile
companies the country of origin is also taken into account

For many charts the most recent calendar year 2017 was chosen, but
longer time periods are shown for some charts

Investment refers to venture capital investment rounds and excludes
debt, lending capital, grants and ICOs

Secondary rounds, buyouts, M&A and IPOs are treated as exit
transactions (excluded from funding data, but included in exit data)
Much of the data used in this report is freely accessible via
