Boyd Gavin Show Opening at John
Natsoulas Gallery: June 8 - July 23, 2022
Join us at the John Natsoulas
Gallery in Davis, California for
the exciting opportunity to see
fine works by renowned
painter, Boyd Gavin.
Boyd Gavin, a life-long resident
of Sacramento, received his BA
from University of Santa Cruz,
and his MA from California State
University, Sacramento.
He has exhibited extensively,
including at the Crocker Art
Museum, the Caldwell Synder
Gallery in San Francisco, and
at the John Natsoulas Gallery.
Gavin's seemingly effortless
brushstrokes enliven
canvases and draw the
viewers close through
geometric depth.
His painterly style, in the
traditions of artists such as
Cezanne, allows him to depict
very specific worlds, while
responding to atmospheric
complexity.
His tonalist hues combined
with nostalgic imagery create
distinct atmospheres that
instantly transport viewers.
Other, brighter paintings
inspire connections to
artists such as David
Hockney and Ed Ruscha.
Gavin's depictions of these
now-historic locations are,
in effect, his own form of
preservation.
Through these familiar yet
distant scenes of mid-century
spaces, Gavin reflects on the
past and invites his viewers to
join him on his journey of
memory.
The John Natsoulas
gallery is open from
Wednesdays to Sundays.
