Solomons Europe is a Chartered Quantity Surveying Practice, established 1998.
Our Contract and Commercial teams are experienced in the power, energy, utilities, infrastructure, process and engineering sectors, which means we are equipped to support our clients with cross sector expertise and knoweldge to support informed project decisions.

LOCAL EMPLOYMENT CHARTER
As regional SME’s we are responsible for the employment of over 130 talented people in the area. We
are committed and locally engaged employers, committed to fair and equal employment practices and

It is our objective to achieve the highest standards of direct employment status and to protect the health

The following shall be a minimum standard of commitment that our group will uphold and shall require
of their supply chain partners:
1. All parties recognise that the highest level of compliance with current HMRC (Her Majesty’s
Revenue and Customs) regulations must be achieved. It is therefore our commitment that,
wherever possible, all project teams will be directly employed on a PAYE (Pay As You Earn) basis
under a contract of employment. Use of intermediary pay roll company will be avoided at all
times.
2. Health and wellbeing of teams is paramount. We will therefore provide access to specific training
and awareness workshops in these areas for all our teams, to ensure physical safety and good
mental health support for all our people in their challenging and demanding roles.
3. The SME Partners will ensure all projects will be completed to the highest standards of service,
so as to meet the aspirations of their clients. To achieve this it is recognised that it is necessary
that all team members are appropriately trained, supported and competent, and have the
appropriate level of skill to carry out their roles. To assist in the achievement of this goal we will
ensure investment in and access to skills training and professional development which will
promote Lifelong learning and Learning from Experience.
4. The SME Partners are mindful of the industry skills shortage and the need to address this
through appropriate apprenticeships, including adult training in up skilling, and are committed to
working with other interested parties develop and implement a programme that addresses the
skills shortage and provides training opportunities to local talent with non cognate experience
and to young people starting out on their career pathway.
5. The SME Partners and their supply chain are committed to a fair and transparent recruitment
policy and will ensure that the engagement of staff is based on the individual’s ability to meet
the needs of the role and the specific tasks for which they are recruited to undertake. All
