Spring, 2019 | ATO Xi
Chapter April
A Day for Doh Boy and
Alumni Weekend
An Opening Word

Alumni of our beloved Xi Chapter of Alpha Tau
Omega, my name is Hamilton Murrah, and I am
honored to serve as our chapter's Alumni Chair.
We as a chapter greatly anticipate the return of
many alumni this weekend (April 12-14). We will
be hosting two events and we hope to see many
of you in attendance. The first will be our annual
philanthropy event, A Day for Doh Boy, on
Friday, April 12th. As you know, Michael Doherty
(Class of 2019) was a beloved ATO brother that
tragically passed away in the summer of 2017.
This event is held in his honor. The second
event that you should be aware of is our alumni
barbecue on Saturday, April 13th. As some of
you who have been back for previous alumni
weekends may know, we usually host this barbecue outside of our section in
Craven Quad. Since Craven Quad is currently under renovation, this will not be
the case this year. More information on both of these events is included below.
In addition, this past January our rush chairs and fraternity as a whole did an
incredible job in executing a thorough and engaging rush process. We are
excited and proud to welcome 25 diverse and involved young men into our
brotherhood. We enjoy the tradition and foundation that our alumni have built
and remain ever striving to improve our brotherhood. We continue to recruit
scholars, athletes, philanthropists and great citizens of the Duke and Durham
communities. We thank all of you for your support of the Xi Chapter, and I hope
to see you at one or both of our events this week!

This Friday (April 12th) is A Day For Doh Boy, our biggest philanthropy event of
the year. Held in memory of Michael Doherty, a brother of ATO who passed
away in the summer of 2017, A Day For Doh Boy is a great opportunity to
enjoy street hockey, free food, and remembrance of Mike's life. We will be
hosting it from 5-8 PM at the East Campus Tennis Courts and all are
welcome. This year's proceeds are going toward Bridge II Sports, a local
Durham charity that helps athletes and kids with disabilities participate in
sports.

You can donate now at fundly.com/day-for-doh-boy-1 or in person on Friday.
Anything you can contribute will help continue Mike's legacy and support the
great work Bridge II Sports does in the Durham community.

This Saturday (April 13th) we will be hosting our annual alumni barbecue. Since
our West Campus section is currently under renovation, we will be hosting the
barbecue at 807 Wilkerson Ave, Durham, NC 27701 in the backyard. The
event will run from 1-5pm and will include food, beer, and other refreshments.
We look forward to seeing many of you at one or both of these events!
