Parks, Recreation, and Conservation Advisory Board Meeting Minutes

I.
CALL TO ORDER - The Chair, Anthony Sanchez, District 6, called the meeting to order at 12:00 PM

a. A welcome to everyone.
b. A thank you to Friends of the County Parks and Recreation for providing lunch today.

PUBLIC COMMENTS N/A

III.
PRESENTATIONS
a. ELAPP Land Acquisition - Monthly update - Billy Graham Conservation Environmental Land Management
Department Manager, provided a written report to the Board. Document attached.
b. Field Use Agreement - Status update – Chris Kiddy, Parks & Recreation Athletic Management Staff member.
Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation has provided County Administration the historical background,
challenges, and current opportunities encountered with the Field Use Agreement. The Department is
seeking reviews and surveying other comparable municipalities, locally, Statewide, and nationally and
discovered very few are consistent with each other, making them all unique. Hillsborough County will seek
to develop the best practices, with consideration it serves a large diverse population. A status will be
provided to the Parks Advisory Board members when it is finalized.




IV.
NEXT MEETING DATE is 11-07-2024 – At the November 7, 2024, meeting the Board Members will determine if a
December 2024 meeting is necessary

.

BOARD ACTION
a. Approve 08-08-2024 Meeting Minutes. - Aaron Casteel, Board Member District 4 , made the 1st motion to
approve the minutes and Diedrea Anthony, Board Member District 3 , 2nd the motion. All board members
were in favor with no objections.

VI.
BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS :
Chair, Anthony Sanchez, District 6, announced he will provide a suggested 2025 calendar year schedule of
meeting dates at the next meeting.

VII.
COMMUNICATIONS, ACTIVITIES, OR STAFF MEMBER COMMENTS
Rick Valdez, Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation Department Director, made an advisory to the Board
of the few altercations and current concerns experienced at the Parks involving the authorities. They are
working on this issue.

The Chair, Anthony Sanchez, District 6 , adjourned the meeting at 12:10 PM.
