WELCOME/CALL TO ORDER
a. This meeting was called to order at 12:00 p.m. by Anthony Sanchez

PUBLIC COMMENTS
None
III.
PRESENTATIONS
a. Update of Board Position Openings
i. Anthony Sanchez gave an update of the open positions.
b. Election of Chair and Vice Chair
Motion: Joe Guidry, Jr. made a motion that Anthony Sanchez continues serving as Chair
and Nathan Gennara continues serving as Vice Chair. The motion was seconded by Jack
Berlin. The motion was passed with no opposing members.
c. 2021 Proposed Meeting Dates and Locations
i. Discussion ensued regarding meeting locations.
Motion: Aaron Casteel made a motion to accept the meeting dates, and the motion was
seconded by Joe Guidry, Jr. The motion was passed with no opposing members.
d. Lower Green Swamp Preserve Trail Naming
i. Ross Dickerson presented information on this project to name a trail after Kent
Bailey. Currently working with Sierra Club and will present more information to the
Board at the April meeting.
ACTION ITEM- Add this to the April Agenda
e. Sponsorship Update
i. Rick Valdez gave an update that a vacant position has been identified to allow for

the position of sponsorship coordinator. As soon as this position receives approval
from Budget Management, it will be posted.
ii. Jack Berlin enquired about the workflow for this position. Discussion ensued.
f. Reopening Update
i. Forest Turbiville gave an update of the reopening status of parks and campgrounds.
Picnic shelters and the environmental study shelters remain closed. The two
buildings for environmental programs will need a formal reopening plan to go
through the Facilities Department.
ii. Mr. Valdez gave an update that all parks and amenities have reopened. Capacity is
limited in after school programs.
iii. Mr. Sanchez enquired about how many parks are being used for Covid-19
vaccination sites. Discussion ensued.
iv. Mr. Berlin enquired about cases among staff members. Discussion ensued.
g. State of Youth Athletics
i. Dave Ramirez shared information on:
1. Covid-19
2. Registration numbers
3. Facility and field rentals
4. Team HC Specialty Sports Program
5. Revenue
6. Trainings
ii. Discussion ensued regarding the new Field Use Agreement.
h. Hillsborough County Travel Baseball/Softball Update
i. Mr. Ramirez introduced the HC Competitive League Program, which will allow
partners to have a competitive component to their program.
ii. Mr. Valdez elaborated on details of this program. Discussion ensued.
i. Athletic Field Renovation and Maintenance Update
i. Greg Brown shared a presentation on the Athletic Turf Program.
ii. Discussion ensued between staff and Board members on next steps and Board
action.
ACTION ITEM- upload presentation to Edocr
j. Tree Planting Events
i. Mr. Brown shared recent tree planting events done in conjunction with Keep Tampa
Bay Beautiful.
k. AED Update
i. James Crouch shared that the County is getting ready to go out to bid for AEDs. The
Department will be able to purchase AEDs after the contract is put into place.

BOARD ACTION
a. Approve minutes from the October 29, 2020 meeting

Motion: Joe Guidry, Jr. made a motion approving the October 29, 2020 meeting minutes
and the motion was seconded by Aaron Casteel. The motion was passed with no opposing
members.
V.
BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS
a. Mr. Berlin recommended that Mr. Valdez and Mr. Turbiville begin thinking about rules
for non-vaccinated people.
b. Mr. Guidry, Jr. commended Mr. Turbiville and his team on the Hiking Spree.
