According to Loving Essential Oils' latest guide, essential oils used for
diffusion, inhalation, and topical applications should not contain any
synthetic additives.
Once you’ve ascertained
that the oils you’ve
purchased are pure, you
can safely use them for
aromatherapy diffusers.
In particular, sweet-smelling
fragrances can stimulate certain
olfactory receptors and trigger a
calming effect in your nervous
system, leading to a reduction in
tension.
Frankincense oil is
commonly used for this
purpose, and other essential
oils that are known for similar
therapeutic effects are
lavender, bergamot, rose,
and sweet marjoram.
For anxiety, add a few drops
of lavender, geranium,
lemon, and sandalwood to a
water tank diffuser.  For
stress, you can use lime,
bergamot, grapefruit, and
sandalwood.
