Golf Club Guide: Hit Drivers, Fairway
Woods & Wedges Further Distances &
More Accurately
In its new guide, Golf Online Today covers all types of clubs in a
standard golf bag and shares the average distances most golfers can
achieve using each.
When hitting longer shots, most golfers
choose their driver, fairway wood, or
hybrid clubs. The driver can be hit the
furthest, with most golfers ranging from
150-300 yards.
Fairway woods and hybrids,
on the other hand, typically
max out at about 200-250
yards.
Irons offer the most range as far as distance is concerned. A 3-iron, for example, can
sometimes be hit as far as fairway woods and hybrids, depending on your skill level.
On the other end of the range, 9 and 8-irons are used to get more
loft and spin, so their max distances are closer to wedges.
Wedges are versatile clubs that can generally be hit anywhere up to 150
yards. They’re also very useful around the green for close shots out of the
rough.
