Victimized at a Devereux Foundation
Facility? You May Qualify for
Compensation.
If you or someone in your
family was a patient at a
Devereux Advanced
Behavioral Health facility,
you may be entitled to
financial compensation as
a result of personal injury.
Victims of abuse at the hands of employees or
fellow residents at any one of the Devereux
Foundation's centers are being asked to contact
the personal injury lawyers at Console and
Associates, P.C., in order to assess your right to
sue for damages.
The firm is launching lawsuit
investigations into reports of
physical and sexual abuse at a
number of Devereux Advanced
Behavioral Health centers.
The announcement comes after new
Pennsylvania state legislation which
allows child victims of abuse that
occurred after November 2019 the
right to pursue civil legal action (a
lawsuit) until age 55, and young adults
victimized between the ages of 18 and
23 the right to pursue action until age
30.
With the general public largely unaware
of recent state law revisions, lawyers at
Console and Associates want victims to
understand they now have the right to
seek damages.
Lawyers at the firm are also pointing
out that survivors of abuse that
occurred prior to the November 2019
legislation who feel they may have
missed the statute of limitations could
still have grounds to pursue their
case.
News of abuse at Devereux
Advanced Behavioral
Health facilities broke in
August 2020 when a well-
known Philadelphia
newspaper identified 41
instances of physical and
sexual assault.
Citing cases where children as young as 12 were
sexually victimized as a result of 25 years of systemic
abuse, the article prompted an investigation by the
Philadelphia Department of Human Services and
Community Behavioral Health, and resulted in the
removal of 53 children.
If you are a survivor of abuse at any of the
Devereux Foundation's facilities, you are
highly encouraged to contact the lawyers
at Console and Associates, P.C., to
participate in a cost-free case evaluation
and learn more about the compensation
you deserve.
