Freshly’s Market in Aberdeen, Mississippi is
taking part in Double Up Food Bucks
Aberdeen's very own Freshly's Market, a
new concept in grocery shopping
introduced by hometown hero Miss Katina
Holliday, has announced that the store will
take part in Double Up Food Bucks
benefiting Supplemental Nutrition
Assistance Program recipients.
It allows these shoppers to
double their purchasing power
up to $20 per day when buying
fruits and vegetables using
their EBT cards.
Miss Holliday opened the
modernized mega-store in January
of this year as a means of offering
locals a convenient and
geographically desirable destination
for purchasing a wide assortment of
high-quality groceries.
"We are excited to introduce Double Up
Food Bucks to our many patrons who rely
on SNAP benefits to make ends meet,"
says Miss Holliday, who shared that
Freshly's Market is one of 30 participating
stores across Mississippi extending from
the Delta to the Gulf Coast.
"The new program is proving to be a win-win
for the state in that families with lower
income now have broader access to healthy
foods while local farmers will sell more
produce." In addition to Double Up Food
Bucks, Freshly's Market provides a number
of other conveniences...
Freshly's Market is the anchor
store of The Pointe, a 30,000-
square-foot complex that is
also the brainchild of Miss
Holliday.
It also houses Urgent &
Primary Care at the Pointe
and will eventually play home
to a restaurant and retail
store.
Since moving away from her hometown in
Aberdeen, Mississippi, Miss Holliday has
become a successful LA-based entrepreneur
who is best known as the founder and CEO of
Holliday's Helping Hands, a nonprofit that
assists both homeless persons and young
mothers recently released from penal
institutions.
The program has been
recognized for its award-
winning approach to serving it
underprivileged clients and
become a beacon for other
such programs.
Part of her strategy is helping clients
develop "Roadmaps" for their futures -
detailed, comprehensive plans that help
them hone their lifestyle skills, plan
monthly budgets, job train, prepare for
job interviews and become good
neighbors and citizens.
